this is not my story, it belongs to the great book "The Crane Wife", by the amazing writer Patrick Ness. this story explains the life of one of the main characters, called Kumiko (aka the crane wife), told by herself in 32 parts. even though there are 32 chapters, they're all very short, so you can read it all at once. i would really recommend the book, it really is amazing. also, the book and this story are based on a Japanese folktale, also called the Crane Wife. hope you like it ;)

Every part of the world is dangerous. From the alluring kelpies of the southern ocean islands and their aquatic friends to the unkillable, unrelenting dragons of Loang Mountain in the northern horizon. It was hard being a human in a place where there were more magical creatures than you, each able and willing to kill and shred with a simple moments notice. Its not unheard of for dragons to fly near the forest village of Aardene. Even less unheard of for one to be taken back to the Loang Mountain. But a human, walking out of the mountain... Well it's just never been done. Never heard of or seen. Especially when they're on dragonback.

Going along living a normal life, I didn't believe in fantasy or that I'd ever be in a plane crash. I had good luck a lot so what was happening now? Stuck on an island, alone, forever??? So Alexandra Burke had been living a normal life. And like normal people do she decided to go on holidays. Little did she know that she was exiting the norm and entering the supernatural, with dragons and the like. This is her story about survival under odd circumstances.

Alan stepped back as the entire procession filed in. Jim, Maria, little Max and Jay at ten and seven respectively, and Bark and Snark, the gryffins. Bark began making honking noises as he inspected the house. Snark began chewing on the couch with gusto, Jim trying to pry him off, and Maria began exclaiming over how much Millie had grown. Meanwhile the kids ran to pet a spooked Pokerface cowering in the corner. "You... brought the family." This is not meant to be a realistic portrayal of a volcano btw. I did this for my monthly story challange. The prompt was 'fantasy comedy with lava.' The people I was doing the challange with liked this story.
