She realises that their love is gone, dead and buried. So to save her own sanity she makes the bravest decision she has ever made, to cut the umbilical cord that has held her and Pete together for nearly three decades, and fly solo. She secretly plans her escape to Scotland and the one person she hopes still cares for her, Steph her sister. The decision comes at a price for Shirley, and the train journey away from her miserable life is set to reveal many things which will make past events clear beyond any reasonable doubt.
