Her cheeks heated at his nickname that obviously suggested this was a very intricate dare, or something else entirely. Maybe he was mistaking her for someone else. Maybe she was dreaming. She tried to pinch herself, but he caught her hand. "You aren't dreaming honey." His smirk made her heart beat like a hummingbird's. "Then why the fuck are you here?" She was cursing like a sailor, but she couldn't help it. He had her completely off-guard. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." She sent him her best glare. So this was a dare. Of course. Of course this wasn't real. She didn't deserve this. What was she thinking? "Try me. And I have to warn you, I've heard all the lies. You're gonna have to get pretty creative." He laughed again and she had the strange urge to jump in his arms. Weird, and definitely stupid. "You're my mate. I'm a werewolf and you're destined to be by my side forever as my partner and lover."
