This was what she believed would need to survive within court affairs and get shielded upon when if the titans even breach into Wall Sina. To get power, she needed strength and a strong mentality to just survive one more day in the Titans pen. To do this, she trains everyday ever since she could wield a wooden sword. She joins as a trainee and would just dropout before they have them choose their stationary. Or she would join the Military police even if she doesn't make the top 10. Her father will deal with that.
