The Wandmaker's Niece follows American exchange student Jade Thorn at Hogwarts in 1976. Raised to see magic as part of nature, Jade arrives with a different perspective that doesn't always align with British wizarding ways. As Jade beings to search for answers about her own unusual abilities, she finds herself drawn into unexpected friendships. Lily Evans, navigating her own shifting loyalties. Maeve Calder, a brilliant and observant Ravenclaw. And inevitably the Marauders, especially Sirius Black, brilliant, reckless, and already carrying more weight than people see. This is a story about youth on the edge of something bigger, magic as a craft, and what it means to be marked for tragedy.
This story explores the Marauder's time an outside perspective, where Jade finds herself pulled into friendship, romance, and of course mystery.
This story has lived quietly in my head for years before I finally found the time (and courage) to write it down. I always wanted to explore Sirius Black as not just a reckless marauder or a tragic fugitive, but as a deeply broken man who deserves more. Even the darkest of characters should have moments of joy, reminders that they are human. This story lives in that space.
