This is a story about Rainbowkit and her sister, pumpkinkit and the many troubles the pair go through, with the death of their mother, and being in a clan ruled by a horrible leader named Fantomstar.

Suddenly, one day, warriors come back with news about a dog's scent found somewhere on territory. Prey starts to disappear and the clan starves until madness. The dog seems to be trying to track down the clan, but it doesn't look right, it carries an unknown disease of craziness with it. Will Beechpaw survive the hunger and an unknown plague and live long enough to become a warrior? Or will he die trying? Will he be able to go on painful decisions and sacrifice his loved ones for his own life?
