The first book of Shaded is about a kit named Waterkit. He has grown up in a world of hatred, rejection and bitterness. Every one of his Clanmates resented him, and he will soon have his vengeance...

Darkfur figured that his life should be perfect by now. He had joined SparkClan after a massive war following LeafClan, his home Clan, and BoneClan, a newly formed Clan of rogues. And for a while after joining, his life WAS perfect. However, one day, after an apprentice's failed murder attempt, he was wrongfully exiled, along with his friends Skullface and Poisonfang, and apprentice Hawkpaw. He figured that his life couldn't get any worse. But when a certain cat betrays him, his life would be turn upside down in a horrific experience that he wouldn't forget for many, many moons to come.

Everything seems fine for the deputy of Moonclan, that is until he meets a seemingly perfect she-cat and all things about his life tumble downhill.

The medicine cats of Leafclan, Summitclan, and Meadowclan were due to meet at the Moonpool at the half moon gathering - but the medicine cat of Leafclan was nowhere to be found, only his frantic apprentice appeared, running for their life. Expect adventure, drama, and most of all - a great mystery. Who will solve it? Who is to blame? You'll only be able to know by reading.
