The dog seems to be trying to track down the clan, but it doesn't look right, it carries an unknown disease of craziness with it. Will Beechpaw survive the hunger and an unknown plague and live long enough to become a warrior? Or will he die trying? Will he be able to go on painful decisions and sacrifice his loved ones for his own life?
