Rusty is a young house cat living with his humans and sister, Princess, in the Twolegplace. He lives a comfortable, well fed life and enjoys the gossip of the other kittypets such as his close friend Smudge. But beyond the safety of his garden, Rusty has been told there are dangerous wild cats and that he is never to go into the woods. But the forest is calling and Rusty's not sure he can ignore it for much longer. One night, his sister Princess disappears into the forest, promising that she is only going to explore and try to catch a mouse or two. There is a lot of controversy about Flamestar's competence to lead, expecially since she was made a warrior less than four moons previous. Tensions are high between the clans, and the pressure is on the young leader to make the right decisions. But when a darkness bigger than all of them threatans their home, their lives, and their loved ones, the clans must put aside their differences and fight as one.
