She swears an oath to find him despite her mother’s distress The story then charts the course she and Bracen make as she develops into a formidable warrior on her journey north. She will meet and develop a strong empathy with a mysterious newcomer who like her has suffered a grievous personal loss. Celeste must ultimately choose between her two soul mates and discover how she can fulfill her destiny and triumph over the tragedy of her youth.

Maenads were supposed to be a myth, wild devil women that were driven by their madness to hunt and kill anyone stupid enough to trespass in Cithaeron Wilds. But Xenik wasn't so sure about that now that he'd met one. Though she hadn't matched up to the terrifying stories about them. She should've killed him. It would've been easy, he'd been exhausted and near the brink of death already when she found him. But that was why he believed her intentions to be more devious than those of legend. She'd saved him and returned him safely to civilization. Now she haunted him. Driving him to madness. She should've killed him. Why hadn't she killed him? He wished she would've just killed him.

The two women stood up and rhythmically walked over to the crib, gazing down at a sleeping Dawn, whose skin was glowing a bright blue, the same shade of the moon still suspended in the starry expanse of the sky, the vibrant colour pulsed energetically before seeping completely into her skin.
