For a primer or refresher of all things WataMote, watch it (legally) for free on Crunchy Roll, or read my own adaptation of the manga, Tomoko. These are not meant to be what-if or alternate reality stories, but rather attempts to supplement her actual world. Apart from that, of course, Tomoko is frequently delusional, or retreats into fantasies that eventually burst. Much of WataMote transpires within Tomoko’s mind, and so her thoughts here frequently supercede the narration, in italics. However, she is kept in check, because she is too unreliable to be her own narrator.
