Betrayed by the organization she pledged her loyalty to, River is taken in by the enemy. Matt a vampire on the vampire council agrees to grant her asylum on the condition that she work in his cafe part time, and work with the vampire Brett to find out what the Hunter's are up to. Reluctant at first, the closer they get to the truth, the more they realize that the only one they can trust is each other.

She hates herself, she avoids all contact with people as much as possible. She feels that there is no place for her as a vampire living in a human world. I look into her frightened eyes. I pull her into me and sink my teeth deep into her neck. She squirms against me, exciting me more. Oh how I love this female. She drives me mad. She attempts to shove me away. "What the hell, Collin!" she shouts. I grab her by her hair and tilt her head back. I cut my wrist with one of my extended canines and force the blood to drip into her mouth. She screams and fights me the entire time. "Collin, stop! What's wrong with you?" she screams. "Your mine now, Becky." I smile and show her the truth of what I have become. I let my extended teeth show and my eyes go black. (2,500 word contest for Wattvampire)
