This short satirical story, "The Grinch Who Tried to Steal World Cup!" is an adaptation of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," by Dr. Seuss. It was inspired by the current, ongoing U.S./Mexico/Canada-hosted 2026 World Cup. It was motivated by the juxtaposition of the World Cup being hosted here in the U.S. during these turbulent, divided times and in the midst of the 250th birthday of the United States of America. The initial draft of "The Grinch Who Tried to Steal World Cup!" was written on June 27, 2026. The original Dr. Seuss story, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas " ™ & © was published in 1957, renewed 1985 by Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. Random House, Inc., New York and Random House of Canada, Limited, Toronto.
