Thirty years ago, at a redevelopment construction site in Seoul, South Korea, an old stone slab engraved with unknown ancient characters was discovered. Alongside it were two undecayed corpses dressed in clothing from an era that could not be identified, as well as murals and traces of a culture that seemed to testify to that lost time period.
When the stone coffin was removed, a bizarre phenomenon occurred: any exposed part of it would blacken and burn. People in Korea became fascinated by it. Researchers from around the world got involved, but because of political and international conflicts among those in power, the investigation eventually lost momentum. Then, to make matters worse, the research institute studying it was attacked...
Time passes, and now, thirty years later, in the present day.
Haewon, who had been living an ordinary school life, receives news during class that her grandmother has died, and goes down to her grandmother's house. There, she suddenly sees a man with strange eyes. While sleeping, she discovers a dagger inside a chest where the latch has somehow come undone.
As Haewon touches the dagger, she cuts her hand. The moment her blood stains the blade, she begins to read the strange writing leaking out from the sword...
