In the quiet Yorkshire village of Hawley, nothing ever truly changes - or so it seems. On the last day of summer, eleven-year-old Isobel "Izzy" Hartley and her friends welcome a new girl into their circle. But when a strange wind sweeps across the moors and leads them to a boy left for dead among shattered mirrors, Hawley begins to unravel. The boy, Cedric, remembers nothing of how he arrived there - only the feeling that something followed him through the glass. As Cedric struggles to understand the world he's woken into, Izzy is forced to confront memories she has spent years avoiding, while the village itself reveals cracks in its history: distorted reflections, missing time, and an ancient presence tied to the moors and maybe Cedric himself. What began as curiosity turns into consequence. Friendships are tested. Secrets surface. And as the mirror-world presses closer, the children realise that Hawley is not haunted by ghosts - but by something that watches, waits, and remembers. Because the moors do not call everyone. And once they choose you, they never truly let you go.

Prefatory Papers In 1904, Dr. Nesta Gwynne-Morgan began compiling a private archive on Mallt y Nos, the Night Matron of the Wild Hunt. This first volume contains my Note to Self on acquiring the manuscripts, the archival notes that accompanied the manuscripts, and an introduction to the subsequent three stories. These documents form the doorway into her work: the place where her professional curiosity meets the unease she never names directly.

Star Norwood has often wondered at the strange silvery mark on her brow, but her parents never could explain it. Then on her graduation day she discovers they aren't her real parents. A journey to the mysterious wood where she was found soon explains much, including the odd dreams she's had since a child, of unicorns, a mysterious elf-man in need of her help, and general Impending Doom. Soon she is plunged into an adventure in fairy lands, both wondrous and dangerous. As she struggles to undo the spell binding her to the mysterious Fae man that can shift into the shape of a unicorn, she comes to terms with her own unicorn-related powers--and deals with the reality of falling for a man of the Seelie Courts, the Fae Folk. Together they embark on a quest to save her true parents from the clutches of Arawn, Lord of the Unseelie Underworld, and to recover a fabled alicorn bracelet, said to undo any spell that touches it. Throughout all of this, Star wrestles with the question of who she is, and who she could be. Maybe, just maybe, Who One Is, is something more than how you look, or who your parents were. Can one, perhaps, choose who they wish to be?

Colyn Dolphyn dies on the gallows at St. Donat's: but he doesn't stay dead. Ripped from his body mid-rage, he tries to outrun the truth settling over the beach: Mallt y Nos, rider of the spectral hounds, has come for him. Not for justice. Not for mercy. For the Hunt. The cŵn are circling. The arrows won't fly true. The chapel won't let him in. Every path he takes tightens the noose that didn't finish the job. He can't fight her. He can't bargain with her. And he sure as hell can't outrun her. A dark, atmospheric ghost-hunt rooted in Welsh folklore, The Hunt of Mallt y Nos: Colyn Dolphyn - Book 1 follows one man's final hours as he becomes prey to something ancient, patient, and unstoppable.

Centuries after the first ride, Mallt y Nos has nearly slipped out of the mortal world. Most people barely register her passing now. Her body is fading, but her awareness is sharpening as she drifts closer to what waits beyond. Colyn waits in the chapel because there is nowhere else left for him. The old blessing that once hid him has worn thin, and the world has begun to forget him too. Still, she finds him with ease. This year she enters without resistance, guided by a clarity that only grows as her form weakens. This chapter follows the moment when her transformation nears its end and his fate finally arrives.

Centuries have passed since Mallt y Nos first rode the road to St. Donat's, yet the curse never loosened its grip. Each generation has learned the same cold truth: when the rhyme stirs, she returns. Her horse with its hollow eyes, her falcon caught between worlds, her hounds drifting like smoke through stone. Villages bar their doors. Children hide. The land itself leans away from her shadow. These chapters follow one of the later rides. A family on the road feels the first signs of her coming. The village endures the long shadow passing. Colyn Dyphyn hides in the ruins of St. Donat's while the old sanctity thins around him. Her voice seeps into the walls. Her memory sharpens. And year after year, he survives only by the smallest thread. This cycle shows how fear becomes tradition, how legend decays into something far more real, and how the Hunter always returns for the ones she has not yet claimed.
