Summary: The story follows A-Ying, a young boy who crosses a barrier into a land filled with the dead, where he encounters the spirits and the cursed forces that inhabit the mountains. Initially, A-Ying is embraced by the spirits and the cursed Yin forces, who bond with him as he carries a special energy within him, the Yin Iron. Over time, he grows stronger and more attuned to the land's energies, but he must prove himself and endure trials to truly control and understand the power within him. As A-Ying matures, he returns to the mountains as a young man, now named Wen Wuxian. He carries with him the energy of the Yin Iron and a flute forged from the land's bamboo. Through his music, he communicates with the dead, purging the lingering resentment and freeing the spirits that have been trapped for centuries. However, Wen Wuxian's return is marked by a shift in the balance-the Yin Iron is no longer the same, and instead of immediately playing his flute, Wen Wuxian speaks to the dead, offering a repayment of a debt he owes them. In the end, his music brings release to the spirits, and they are freed from their torment, bound to him for all eternity.

Wei Ying was young when he was found by the Jiang sect, half starved on the streets of the Wen Clan. While many believed that the Jiang's had opened their arms to accept the boy, Wei Ying knew it to be untrue. The lack of acceptance was in the small things, beginning with the constant anger of the Madam, and ending with his refusal to wear the purple and blue which the Sect was well known for. Wei WuXian, or otherwise known as Wei Ying. His parents died on the way to visiting Gusu sect. Ten years later, word arises that ghosts keep appearing among a city belonging to the Lan Sect, as such, they send a group of Disciples to check it out. Finding a living ghost like creature, the Disciples instinctively attack, bringing Wei Ying into the picture. Lan Wangji was intrigued, and ordered the boy to be brought back with them. Wei Ying may go, but he was not going to make it easy on Wangji. As a guest of Lan Wangji, the Second Master Childe is in charge of Wei Ying. Slowly the two begin to get much closer to each other.

It is a play where one attempts to catch traitors or those who have committed big crimes. The tar- ahem, the 'chosen one' will receive something that will help him from getting caught. "Mother, I think this will last till next year." "For all that that Wei Wuxian is good for I didn't think that he could be so quiet to stay under our noses without us even hearing him snicker." "I'm getting even more curious about what Wei-xiong received to help him." The game lasts so long that the sect leaders begin to get involved.

One dandy day at Lotus Pier, sometime before the departure to Gusu Lan, the head disciple startled awake, his screams bringing any able person to wonder what happened. Was there a dog near the sword Hall or the training grounds? As good as everyone hides their real personality, they can't seem to NOT get a soft spot when confronted with a playful fluffball.

Wei Wuxian seems nervous. Anxious to get family together for 'the last time.' His acting is good, but not for a family that has been with him for so many years. What kind of event will happen once the family get together was over? Does something REALLY happen like Wei Wuxian thinks? Or was it just... a 'dream'?

Wei Ying had long ago mastered a dark art. One which, should any fond out, would put a target on his back. When the Jiang's took him in, he made sure that it was never used in their presence. He already got enough hate as it were without them knowing he could literally destroy everything they held dear with a mere whistle. Everything was fine, until he was forced to go to the Cloud Recesses with Jiang Cheng. That was when complications arose. After all, how could he keep things hidden from the Two Jades of Lan? Especially after the disaster one night, which ended in him hiding from Jiang Cheng. Notes *Jiang Cheng has a really bad temper, and I don't think they showed a realistic ideal with how short tempered he is, so he isn't bad, but he does get violent *In this, Wei Ying already entered the burial mounds before the Jiangs collected him. It will be explained in detail later. *Wei Ying has some problems. these are things not well addressed in either the book or the live action, and I will be addressing them here.
