Summer 1985. Somewhere between L.A. and Seattle, a boy becomes a man. Buck Star has a girlfriend problem. And a bully problem. But neither one is prepared for the antagonizing forces that loom over the city, forces that see all, interfere with all, and want to conquer all, through money or other means. Buck has to learn how to make and sell coffee, but he also has to learn how to survive as a business owner in Hybrid City and still win the 60-day bet he's entered with his high school bully, a bet that if he loses will force him to become Chet's employee and continual target of abuse, threatening his future and livelihood for years to come. And then he'll never get the girl. And so it begins.
