4th March 1832 To my eldest and dearest sister, I have been in New Zealand for over a year, and in that time over one hundred whales have died at my hands. I want to believe that I have grown numb to this reality, but in truth I still hear their songs of anguish in my dreams, and still weep for repentance in the mermaid's arms. In the early days of the new colony of New Zealand, a young whaler struggles to come to terms with his new life, and writes desperate letters to his sister back home in England. But one night he discovers a mermaid in the frigid waters, and their fateful meeting triggers disastrous consequences.

In 1820, nineteen-year-old Henry DeWitt signs aboard a Nantucket whaleship with little to lose and less to come home to. The voyage promises years at sea, hard labor, and the faint hope of a share in oil profits that may never materialize. But when the battered ship drops anchor off the lush South American port of Atacames-a sun-bleached town of palm trees, sea breeze, and secrets-Henry steps onto the creaking dock and into a life he never expected. In Atacames, he finds more than rum and brief shore leave. He finds work, friendship among locals and sailors alike, and a quiet, clear-eyed young woman whose kindness cuts deeper than any harpoon. As the call of the whale ship clashes with the pull of this new home, Henry is forced to choose between the brutal certainties of the sea and the fragile promise of another future on land. *Atacames* is a historically tinted tale of salt and sun, of a drifting soul who discovers that sometimes the greatest voyage is the one that leads you into the unknown.

Sylvia, a young bottlenose dolphin, is forced to flee from Peru after a traumatic event, and embarks on a journey through the Pacific Ocean full of enemies, danger, obstacles, and even a few new friends to the one place she will call home. On her journey, Sylvia learns that you must be persistent to reach your goal and that something you thought was all evil, or a nasty enemy, might have a silver lining. Note: This story was written originally a long time ago, for a short story competition, but unfortunately I didn't win so I thought people on Wattpad might want to read it, since my family like this story. I have written Orphan of the Ocean to raise awareness about dolphin hunting in the seas of Peru, and I hope that you look upon dolphins with a new perspective after you read this.

Adapted from the 2015 feature film 'In the Heart of the Sea' (and the novel 'Moby Dick'). A closer look at first mate Owen Chase's previous life. It's a reference, which means that not everything is 100% consistent with the movie or the book. (The rights to some figures are therefore not mine).

What would you pack if you knew you were going to travel through time? I'm betting "sports bra" didn't make your list, but you'd better believe it made mine. I would miss elastic, clambering around 19th-century whaleships. I would miss a lot of things, but there was a reason I had to go.

When the government suddenly started hunting down and killing the mutants, Deneb Kaitos is just a fish out of water who miraculously slipped through the fingers of the government's Red Hunters. The Red Hunters still go after him, chasing him through The Wilds. But fate had tweaked everything and thundered a game by giving these mutants special powers. Being a hunted predator isn't so bad when your only power is your wail.

In November 1820, in the lonely vastness of the Pacific, the American whaleship Essex was struck and sunk by a massive sperm whale-a real event that later helped inspire Moby-Dick. History records the ship, the impact, and the long months of starvation that followed. This story asks a darker question: What if the sea struck back on purpose? On a stinking, worn-out whaleship far from land, sailors grumble about bad luck, dwindling kills, and the ache of too many months without shore or women. They joke, they tell ghost stories, and they pretend not to notice the way the ocean seems to be watching them. Beneath the surface, something watches. It has watched for a long time. Playing at the edges of pods, listening to the slow grammar of the deep, learning which hungers are necessary and which are not. The old rhythms of predator and prey make a kind of sense, until one day they don't. Far below the creaking hull of the Essex, another presence moves through the blue: vast, scarred, and not as unknowing as men like to believe. Between what swims above and what swims below, a quiet reckoning begins. Omens mount-sounds in the timbers no one can name, absences no one can explain, and a growing suspicion among the crew that they are not simply crossing the sea, but intruding on something that was never theirs. Based on the true fate of the Essex, The Siren Song of the Essex is a dark sea-myth about cruelty and recompense, about what the ocean remembers, and how it decides, in its own time and language, what is owed.
