The man is a bard, a warrior, and a follower of the Old Ways. The woman is a seer, heavily pregnant with a child so blessed by the goddess, they are forced to flee for their lives. As they tell her things about herself that they cannot possibly know, Fraya fears the divine hand moving in her life. Does she have the courage to do what they ask and protect their unborn child from Baelthrom and his horde? When the enemy attacks her home, she realises everything the seer has told her is true, and that the life of the child and the fate of the world is in her hands. An epic fantasy adventure series that draws on all the appeal of Tolkien's deep and soulful characters, Robert Jordan's sweeping worlds, and the ancient romance of Arthurian mythology. This is a saga full of spirit, determination and resilience.

Rand Al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, Matrim Cauthon. Three aging men, far past their prime, living stubborn, quiet lives in the quiet town of Emond's Field. While all had families and lived relatively happy lives, none accomplished anything particularly spectacular, and now age weighs heavily on them all. But all of that changes one night when a mysterious woman and her guardian visit the sleepy town, in search of Ta'veren, individuals with incredible power and influence. In the course of a night, the destiny of these aging men will change. Upon the weight of one of them, an incomprehensible responsibility will soon lie. Robert Jordan once said that he intended for the protagonist of The Wheel of Time to be an aging man who, relatively late in his life, realizes he is the chosen one. This story attempts to recreate what may have been in this very different timeline.

This story was something I wrote in a Swedish "Wheel of Time" based play-by-post roleplaying game many years ago (2003?) and did a rough translation of in order to send to the guy who would later end up my husband. :) I wrote it as a way for me to get rid of a bunch of characters at once, as well as a chance to write something about all my characters and what they were up to. I still like the feel of the story, but the text could do with a lot of work in general, realistically. Seeing as how it was only ever meant as a post in a play-by-post roleplaying game, aside from updating the text a little to make me want to gouge my eyes out slightly less, I doubt I'll go back and do more work on it. Oh yeah, and because they were roleplaying characters, why you get some oddities that wouldn't be okay with canon. Like Aes Sedai born and raised in the Aiel Waste, and Aes Sedai-Accepted relationships that are a wee bit too friendly, etc. *cough* (And spoiler: servants Janus and Atanea are the same person - it's Zoula in disguise. And the girl with the braids at the end is a ghost.)
