/ana-ga-PE-sis/ (noun) no longer feeling any affection for someone you once loved.
Thomas Riley is anything but normal. Sure he is human; on Earth that is. Long ago, Androids were cast off of Earth because they were seen as threats to society. Humans thought androids could not live the way humans did and prohibited androids from experiencing eternity in the afterlife and gave the privilege to humans instead. This upset androids and they were determined to prove their capability of being civilized humans.
Androids were already sent to different planets, but one day, someone decided to test the waters and send an android to Earth as well. And that android was Thomas Riley. Hundreds and thousands of years ago, Thomas was sent on Earth with the task to study humans and try to become as humane as possible. Every android that is set out to explore a planet is given exactly 15 lives. After an androids task and 15 lives are completed they will cease to exist. Thomas has lived all of his 15 lives and relies on numerous timers displayed on his body to see how much time he has left before he disappears from existence---completely. However, he comes across a girl who is daring and exotic. He is aware he should never have a love interest considering his situation, but he can't resist.
Without the knowledge or education of Androids, Naomi Wallis has no idea that life beyond humans exists. Can you blame her? They've completely wiped any writings or artifacts that could educate humans about them. Fortunately, she meets Thomas in a not-so-friendly way.
Coincidentally, they bump into each other here and there and whatnot. The issue is, they only have a little time before Tommy fades away. In the end, goodbyes are the hardest things to do, especially when you end up falling for the person that has an expiration date.
