They would have tried with first option but the list of people for that is near nothing. Before being sent back to the Isle, Hades told them that Audrey's soul is probably isn't in the realm of the dead. At least, not in his. So where did Audrey's soul went to? It's been a few days after the events when the news broke. Mal and Ben were shocked to their bones at the disappearance of Audrey Rose's still unawakened body. First it was her soul, now it's her literal body that had gotten up and left. It's all the more stressful when somewhere in Auradon, there's a serial killer on the loose.
