Wiesel Stories

This is a found poem that I wrote from Elie Wiesel's "Keep Memory Alive". Elie Wiesel is someone who survived the Holocaust and he turned his pain and hurt into art. Written art, to be precise. I took certain words from this written piece and created a poem of my own. Although, without his words, I would've never FOUND my own. So, let's keep Elie Wiesel's memory alive through his magnificent work.

Night by Ellie Wiesel is a beautifully writen book that I got to read for my Religion class. There is a beautiful meaning behind this book that I shall never forget. Here I describe what I think that this book is about.

In 1899, two aspiring reporters get caught up in one of the biggest events of their time; a newsboy strike. Eleanor, Ellie, and her friend aim to be more than vaudeville reporters, and when opportunity comes their way, they immediately jump on it. But with the strike comes the leader. Jack Kelly. Ellie finds him both endearing and annoying. Sweet and frustrating. All is well until the strike goes wrong and then he finds out who she truly is. But the newboys and their fellow reporters are resilient. They refuse to quit before they're done, and that strength and courage may save them in the end. This is a found poem I created from the novel Night by Ellie Wiesel. I tried to put the agony and emotions the Jewish prisoners were dealing with on the way to Auschwitz. This is a gruesome and horrific part of the world's history, and it is up to us to make sure nobody forgets about it so it will not be repeated.

This is a poem about the Holocaust and the education which circles around it. With my personal experiences in Grade 12, we were required to study "Night" by Elie Wiesel in English, as well as the Holocaust in history class, where we had to tell the stories of the victims of the Holocaust to our classmates. I tried to convey the inhumanity while also acknowledging that it is impossible to understand the pain we are so often told about.

A veces cuando leemos o vemos una película deseamos que poder participar en ellas, o abrazar a nuestro personaje favorito. Cuando lo único que deseas es poder vivir una historia así, y se te concede que sucedería, cuando te das cuenta que viviste una mentira, cuando descubres tu pasado.
