Driven from her home, a young free woman tries her luck in the Old West. New York was long gone; everything she was settled in her footprints that traversed miles upon grueling miles to arrive in Sweet Water Kansas. There, she resolves to take up a new identity in order to suppress her old one, all in hopes of preserving her life. She was like the rest at first, just a wandering soul passing through a small town. Unaware of her infamous reputation back up North, most the townsfolk left her alone. That was until one fuming august morning when she had an unfortunate run in with the hotheaded gunslinger, Jimmy Hickock. Extension: This story is a fan-fiction based off of the 1989-1990's show The Young Riders. The show follows the life of the Pony Express, a group of horse back riders specialized in delivering mail across the state of Kansas. Set just a few years before the Civil War shook the United States, these young men (and one woman disguised as a man) battle gun slinging cowboys, feared mercenaries, and territorial conflicts. Wild Bill and Buffalo Bill, two iconic figures of the Old West appear as major characters in their early years. My story takes place in Season 1.

(Historical Fiction / Action) - Gunslinger: I may be feared and admired, but I call nowhere home. My gun and my skill define my existence. I was born fast, and endless practice has made me the best. For now. A brief rush of adrenaline. Noise, the smell of cordite, and one of us crumples to the dust. This time it was him. I leave nothing but dried blood in the sand...

"The phone's still ringing. And this time... it's for her." Vance Hopper was the town's golden rebel, until the Grabber took him. Four years later, his little sister Suzie is still haunted by the brother she can't bury and the voice she can't forget. When the black phone starts ringing again, Suzie swears she hears him on the other end. But the dead aren't the only ones reaching out. The Grabber's shadow has returned, and it's pulling her straight into the darkness her brother never escaped. Enter Ernesto Arellano, sweet, quiet, and far too kind for someone like her. The brother of another victim. The calm to her chaos. The only person who can see through her walls. Together, they'll uncover the truth behind the ringing phone, the ghosts that never rest, and the evil that refuses to die. But some calls don't just bring back the dead, they demand new ones.

"ᴛᴏ α΄‘α΄€Κ€ Ιͺα΄› Ιͺꜱ α΄›Κœα΄‡Ι΄." What would you do when a simple ancestry project about the 101st Airborne in World War II lands you smack dab in the middle of the crossfire? Because I sure as hell wouldn't have a clue. Of course, that'd never happen to me anyway. SIKE! You thought! My name's Effie Leverette. And of course, this would be my luck.
