Buffy and Jenifer come to Sunnydale high after they burned down the gym at the old school, but there's a perfectly good explanation on why they did it the gym was full of Vampires, yes vampires all pale pointy teeth, they're real and the two girls fight them pretty often. Buffy is the slayer, the chosen one to fight the demons and vampires.
