While many think of this time of year as our offseason, it is truly a magical time to visit. Though our vines may be dormant, our tourism is mild, as is our California weather, with a predictable mix of ample sunshine, occasional light rain, and modest temperatures.

Saltonstall Vineyard is planted in a cool breezy coastal valley 15 miles west of Petaluma. Classic cool coastal Pinot Noir, this wine has dark rose and wild cherry aromas with an earthy rhubarb pie character.

The saying, "Good things come to those who wait" certainly rang true for us this harvest season! A very cool, wet winter and spring led to delayed budbreak, bloom and veraison, and a late start to the harvest season, which lasted through the first week of November.

Our 2023 Albariño is made in a classic refreshing style. With lower alcohol and flavors of Meyer lemon, tangerine, lime zest, peach blossom and minerality, this wine pairs best with seafood and salad. Enjoy!

On the nose, this wine approaches with a soft, round, plushness of ripe summer berry fruits and a hint of savory sage. In the mouth, the wine sits silky with a presence of savoriness; it is extremely approachable upfront. This is very typical of Paloma wines thanks to the racking process over the 18 months spent in the barrel. After swallowing, the drinker is hit with powerful, but pleasantly distinguished tannins. This relatively young wine would greatly benefit from some time in the decanter, especially if it is not being enjoyed with food. However, if you are partial to a strong arm of tannins, this wine may be perfect as is.
