Having wings is considered the mark of a demon. The Daakhi, people born with the wings and tail of a bird are hated and cursed by humans all across the Empire. Then why is a young Daakh among Legion XII's Auxiliaries? Kaveh, despite being part of the Winged Folk, has been raised by the Legate of an Imperial Legion. His fate has been laid before him and he seems to have nothing against it. But what can he do when all his beliefs are turned upside down? What can he do when he is forced to choose between blood ties and loyalty oaths?

{UNDER MAJOR REWRITING} [ON HOLD?] I grew up with stories of outsiders. Nasty creatures that come during the night to snatch up the young or the disobedient, never to be seen again. They are said to be the gods first creations, and when they crafted us after, they went mad with jealousy and sought to destroy us, to win back the gods love and affection. I was told of godly creatures that were driven mad by their own lust for attention, corrupting the beautiful vessels that were created for them. I was told of scraggly creatures with glowing eyes, not unlike the wolves of the thick underbrush. Looming in heights to match the tallest of trees, pointed teeth for crushing bones of their victims. The reality I was presented with was drastically different. They looked.. almost like us. --------- This story is about winged people :) I fell in love with the idea ages ago and I just had to so uh, sue me [Also, I know the name on the cover is wrong, it is for all my books. Marlina grew up in a foster homes. There is nothing special about her. She is average height, weight, and even looks average. Black hair, blue eyes, Caucasian Pale skin. And yet their is something special about her. She grows golden wings on the day of her thirteenth birthday. She finds out that when one falls off it becomes pure, real, fourteen carat gold. Soon after Marlina begins to develop strange ...... powers. She can control objects with her mind, can control any liquid in any of it's three states, and can be super agile, stealthy, alert, and acrobatic. Yet it all goes south ( for the winter) when her foster mom caches a glimpse of her wings. Soon after Marlina decides to go on the run to find out what is going on in this new and messed up world she had unwittingly entered. She then finds a girl named Madison and finds out she also has wings. They band together before setting off to find others like them. Characters thoughts are different from normal style; author's thought and or word in bold, underlined, and the other fount.

Jack is abused at school and acts like he is okay at home. He is all alone in this world, that is until Jack's bullies force him to fly into the dark woods where Jack finds a girl. She is absolutely gorgeous, but her beauty is not her most outstanding trait. She has hawk wings, the most rare and large wings of all.
