HOTE finally got their chance to open for Jason Pride, but realize that they must write and record a song of their own to perform at their first concert. They get Freddie to help them, as he knows more about songwriting than they do. Meanwhile, the band must find the other crystals, in order to stop Dominique from achieving them. Both Manolo and Marisol realize that they're both in love with Sacha, but they can't date him because he already has a girlfriend, but what they don't realize is that she's cheating on him with Anton. Manolo forms a friendship with Jason to help him get over his crush on Sacha, but learns that he has a secret that he doesn't want anyone to find out. Manolo forms a father-son relationship with Freddie, to help him feel more confidant and understanding. Marisol forms an unlikely friendship with Dominique, as Dominique convinces Marisol to become a diva to get people to respect her, even if it means hurting the people she cares about, including her cousin.

Marisol starts dating Rocko after breaking up with Alex. Santiago found a new way to turn someone into a warlock so he uses it on Rocko.

HOTE is finally getting that success they deserve, but realize that they have to change their image, when people feel that they're not Latin enough. The band finds out why Freddie gave up his dream too quickly, and it relates to why they have to change their image for the sake of their community. Manolo and Jason starts seeing each other, after getting his heart broken by Sacha, when he found out about his crush on him. Marisol finds out that Alicia and Anton are seeing each other behind Sacha's back, so she decides to take advantage of the situation, so Sacha would leave Alicia for her. Marisol lashes out on Freddie for giving up his dream too quickly, and then says something to him that she'll end up regretting. The band has found two more crystals, but realize that Dominique is aware of what they're doing, and they must hide the crystals where she can't find them. Sacha finds out that Alicia is cheating on him with Anton, and decides to break up with her. Sacha regrets the way he reacted to Manolo's crush, and wants to make it up to him.

Aware that it's probably too much to explain, she puts it off for another day, after their retreat...but the subway doesn't take them where they thought it would, making putting off the difficult talk a lot harder.

I stop breathing altogether. This is the closest we have ever been, I can smell the scent of the forest on him. I can see a scar that rests on top of his right eye, I have never noticed it before, and I loathe the fact that I think it makes him even more striking, but his eyes leave me speechless. I find it difficult to look away, I do not see a hint of anger or disgust in them this time and I cannot tell if that is the reason they are so captivating.

They become friends with six aspiring musicians named Sacha, Anton, Jenna, Alyssa, Monica, and Chuckie who are all in their history class. The 8 of them decides to form a band together called "HOTE". They've audition for a few record labels, but found no success. They found out that their history teacher Freddie Herrera used to be a musician in his youth, so they ask him if he could help them get a record deal by being their band manager. He said no, not because he doesn't want to get their hopes up, but he is trying to hide his secret from his students that he's actually a warlock from another dimension. They find out about his secret, and they promise to keep his secret, but they still want him to be their band manager. He agrees, however they must help him find 8 crystals that are hidden under the school, because every 50 years, a mysterious darkness comes to the human world, and they must find them before the darkness does. Freddie's evil twin sister Dominique became a member of the darkness, but her brother or her family doesn't know about it, and knowing that she'll do anything to stop her brother from saving the world from the darkness, she decides to get a job as a PE teacher at the school, to spy on Freddie and his students and stop them from ruining her evil plan.
