"The girls sat and stared at the smoking house, the black clouds rising into the sky. Prim and Lila ran inside. Opal was nowhere to be found 'where is she?' Lila said, 'did she get out?' Prim looked around. She couldn't believe it. Their home was gone. And their Witch was missing. Lila was trembling beside her. Prim looked over at her and saw the ash stains being washed away by tears 'It's gone...' Lila said, her voice squeaky and choked 'Our home is all ashes... and Opal is gone'" Lila and Prim are a Witch's apprentice. Prim is proper and serious, while Lila is wild and free. Complete opposites. They never get along and Prim would rather stay away from the other girl, but when their Witch Opal goes missing in a fire, the girls must work together to find her.
