They met as children with dust on their shoes, stubborn hearts, and one impossible dream-to wear the same jersey that carried billions of hearts. Every selection camp forced them closer. Every month that passed blurred the line between competition and companionship. Before either of them realized it, competition became respect, respect became friendship, and friendship quietly became the safest place either of them had ever known.
Across school grounds, state camps, crowded buses, empty practice nets, international stadiums, heartbreaking defeats and unforgettable victories, Jemi and Radha grew up side by side, never noticing how naturally their lives had begun to revolve around each other.
But chasing a dream was never going to be the hardest part. They were too young to know that some battles couldn't be won with runs, catches, or medals alone. Some doors would already be open. Others, they would have to push open themselves- doors the world had never expected little girls with cricket bats to walk through. Who knew they would have to become the very reason those doors will never close again for any other girl.
And somewhere amidst all of it, the miles travelled, the victories celebrated, the losses endured, the laughter shared, and the lives they slowly built together-something began to change.
What begins as shared dreams slowly becomes shared silences, unwavering faith, and a bond so deeply woven into their lives that one day, they are forced to ask themselves a question they never thought they would-
When did "you'll always be my best friend" stop feeling like enough?
Neither of them knew the answer.
Perhaps that's the thing about falling in love- by the time you notice it, it has already become part of your story.
