The stairs were endless, twisting like they were alive. As he reached the top, he saw the clock glowing faint blue, its hands moving backward. Suddenly, a voice echoed: "Time is not lost... it is stored." Arin touched the glass, and in a flash, he saw tomorrow-fires, floods, joy, and sadness all mixed like a dream. The clock was showing him the future. But then something terrifying happened. The clock began showing only one future-a dark one where the town disappeared. "Change it," the voice whispered, "or accept it." Arin realized the clock didn't predict the future-it chose it based on fear. With courage, he grabbed the clock's broken gear and reversed it.
