Instead, some elves found her and took her with them. Nerissa Hanegan has been an elven ranger for as long as she can remember, she had very few friends, and she would trust no one, until one fateful day. She was near the Mirkwood borders, looking at the trees, admiring them, singing in elvish to the ones that were sick. She was then ambushed by orcs, and had no there choice but to enter the forest. She was then taken prisoner by the elves the dwelled there, and soon fell in love with the prince of the realm, Legolas Greenleaf, and he too, fell in love with the elven ranger, for it was fate.

Knowing of the prince's pride she refuses, but due to the prince's pride he insists. Their relationship is something of a battle, but neither would have it any other way. This is the story of their friendship, their life, their love, their hurts, their son, and the death that tore their galaxy apart.

Atiena, whose name means Guardian of Night, is just another regular Elven girl who's just trying to live a regular life. After sunset in the woodland city of Cuiviénen there is the Beast Who Stalks, a mysterious creature who attacks the city and lights the buildings on fire, destroying everything in is path. Attacks start becoming more common and the danger grows more imminent every day. Tired of living in fear, after the Beast attacks her county she follows the Beast to its cave to destroy it. She loses the battle and returns, shaken, about to give up and return to her standardized life. Soon after the Beast returns to the county and destroys her home, burning it to the ground. Now without a home, she wanders for some time, until she hears rumors that the missing Queen of Aelfdene has been located. Adanessa had a bad past, and is to scared to tell anyone. She changed her appearance not wanting to see what she looks like because it brings back to many bad memories. But kept her name in honor of someone she loves, an elf Prince.
