It is the year 2095, in the aftermath of World War Three: a catastrophic event that made most of the world completely uninhabitable due to destructive nuclear warfare. The only place left that has adequate living conditions is Megapolis, and the countryside surrounding it, in the former United States. Scientists working for the government have recently discovered a rare genetic mutation, which they believe is caused by high amounts of exposure to nuclear radiation, as it has never been seen before. Those who inherit the mutation have powerful, magical capabilities, varying greatly from person to person. The government has labeled such people as 'Defects', and views them as a threat to their rule; their plan is to hunt each and every 'Defect' down and wipe them all out, as well as turning society against them. The Defects live in fear, unsure of who they can trust, and many of them are on the run or in hiding with others like themselves. Not getting caught is a question of life or death. On the journey they find many difficulties, and when they find their friends who had been separated fromthe group, much more trouble lies in store.

The world goes into shock when hundreds of teenagers start disappearing from their beds without a trace. Little do the families know countries are starting to prepare for World War Three. But where do these teenagers fit into this? In the middle of nowhere there is a place called Camp Monstrum. Here teenagers are injected with a type of poison causing their molecules to change severely leaving them with abnormal powers.

This was a story for my PTSA entry. The theme for 2014's PTSA was, "The world would be a better place if..." So, this came about. Notch, I know that this is a... sensitive topic to some, but I used "The world would be a better place if the world wasn't selfish." This actually got honorable mention in the contest, even though I thought it was bad. If anyone requests me to, I'll post the aftermath of my unnamed girl's decision. I hope you enjoy!
