This is one of the stories I wrote just after having returned from Vietnam where I flew helicopters for the US Army. The original text was lost but I plan to recreate these stories, one-at-a-time over the next year to bring back to life the real and imaginary world of a Vietnam helicopter pilot.

One night you lay in bed listening to the rain hitting the roof and the not so distant gun shots firing rapidly when you hear pounding on the door. In your silk night gown you creep down the hallway, barefoot and gripping a bat for safety. Who could be here at this time? There weren't many people remaining here and it's dangerous out.
