"A Coincidence": The Story of One Online Dating
I never really believed in dating sites. It seemed to me that it was all a bit artificial - you fill out a profile, scroll through other people's faces, read short descriptions and hope that someone from this virtual stream will suddenly become close to you. But one warm autumn evening, I decided to register on the site https://www.sofiadate.com/dating-tips/long-distance-date-ideas. Not out of great faith, but rather out of curiosity.
My profile was simple: a few photos, an honest description - I love books, coffee in the morning and long conversations about nothing. No filters, no quotes. A couple of hours later, the first message came. Then the second. Most of them were standard: "Hi, how are you?", "You are so beautiful" - and stuff like that. I was in no hurry to answer.
And then he showed up - Artem. His message was different. There were no compliments and no cliché phrases. He wrote:
"You mentioned that you like coffee. There is one kind that smells like cinnamon and rain. I drank it in Prague and immediately thought that this is how coziness should smell. And what does coziness smell like to you?"
I read it and smiled. It was unexpected. Warm. And a little strange - in a good way. That's how our correspondence began. We wrote to each other every day: we talked about childhood memories, funny stories from work, films that leave a mark on the soul.
A week later, he asked to meet. I was nervous, although I already felt that I knew him. We met in a small cafe in the center. He was standing at the entrance with two cups of coffee:
- "One with cinnamon, as promised. The second one is just classic. Suddenly you are not a fan of experiments."
From that moment on, everything became real. We walked in the park, talked like old friends. Without pathos, without trying to seem better than we are.
