These devices can be broken into two parts: Literary Techniques, such as metaphor, hyperbole and alliteration; and Literary Elements, such as plot, setting and theme. We aim to feature all aspects of literary devices here.

A series of tips that I have found useful when writing my stories. This will continue to be in progress as I think of more . The perfect tips to break that writer's block and get creative, whatever it is you're writing. If you can't think of story ideas or if you're just stuck on a particular character or scene, this is the perfect series for you. If you have any requests as to a particular aspect of writing you need ideas for, just let me know and I'll feature it in a chapter ASAP. This is based on my popular tumblr post, when I saw how helpful even that short post was I thought it would be a good idea to continue these tips. Hope you find these useful!

On my blog (www.lydiasanders.com) I have a series called "An Eclectic Writing Class" where I gather resources on productivity, writing craft, grammar, and vocabulary into monthly lessons. These monthly posts also include updates on my own writing projects and writing prompts of my own creation. Rather than including my prompt-inspired writing in my blog posts, I've opted to post it here on Wattpad. This isn't intended to be well-polished writing, and I don't want critiques or editing help for these scenes---I know they're all kinds of messed up. The parts won't necessarily follow any sort of story structure or make sense. Aside from typing up what I've written and fixing a few spelling and punctuation errors, this is unedited. There are even [placeholder words] and {notes to myself} within the text which I'll need to change later if I end up actually using this writing for anything. Most of the prompts are phrases intended to be somehow included in the scene. Beginning sentence, ending sentence, worked into the middle somehow--it doesn't matter. These phrases can be found in the part titles. You're welcome to take the prompts and use them to spark your own work. I would love to see what you come up with. I recommend setting a timer for 20-25 minutes and writing whatever pops into your head. If you need to tweak something in the phrase to make it work for your story, like changing a pronoun or swapping an animal out for a different one, go for it. There are no rules here. Just write. A small advice book on the topics of how to improve your writing whether you're just starting out or have been in the writing game for a while. I am in no way a qualified professional and this is all opinion.

World building and character development typically go hand-in-hand, and sometimes it's hard to get started. Together, we'll explore the elements of building a brand new world (focusing primarily on fantasy) and introducing your characters into it. Each chapter will focus on a particular topic and provide prompts at the end that you can use to help you break through writer's block and get immersed in your world. If there's a topic you would like to know more about, please comment or message me. I would like to make this an interactive writing guide and help you with your journey. Note: Every writer has his/her own style, and the elements in this book are meant just to be suggestions. How you build your world is ultimately up to you!
