It started with a smile - a small, pained, infinitely beautiful smile. The beginning of the end started with a smile. ~~~~~ A story in which Gray falls in love with a smile, and is ultimately lead to the end. (this is GrayLu, but Juvia will not be a villain in this. I love Juvia as a character and as a concept, just not with Gray. I feel as though there's so much for her to offer, and that gets lost in the attraction she holds for him. Please enjoy)

Many people think writing is just putting pen to paper, but it's something so much more than that. It's more than just creating some characters with a few words and describing a place with some adjectives. We write to bring our characters to life. We write to immerse our reader in another world. We write to take them on an adventure that leaves them speechless. I've always been an avid believer that literature goes beyond what we see on the page, and I'm here to help you better achieve that depth.. So, come on in. Even if you only have one chapter or a full novel. Even if you've only just started writing or you've been writing for years. Let's make the best book you can possibly make!

Here, I'll go into detail about my writing style. I know it's weird but since I'm going to be an animator, I write like I'm story boarding, or what ever it's called, so I hope you don't mind. Also, I'm a new writer and an odd manner of speech, so I know I'll have a lot of errors or things might not make sense, so I hope you understand.

CYRA is what one could call a criminal. She roams the streets of the Empire of Juramen, working in the shadows and eliminating those who cross her. Of course, no one knows her name. The Blistering Blade is only known for two things: fighting dirty and odd requests. But unrest is brewing in the Empire's capital. The Keeper of the Oath of Strength has mysteriously passed away. And Cyra is one of the two candidates selected by the magical Stone of Juramen to replace the dead Keeper- and face the Durability Trials. Winning means fame, comfort, and power. Elimination yields certain death. Can Cyra manage to survive past the Trials? Or will she blister, burn, and reduce to ashes? . . . The Empire of Juramen is ruled by promise. Every emperor and empress since the birth of the empire has pledged the Oath, ensuring by blood and magic that the empire is ruled with strength, knowledge, art, industry, justice, and health. The emperors and empresses aren't the only ones running Juramen. In the Stone Compound, built around the Stone of Juramen, six Oathkeepers bind their souls to the Stone, becoming intertwined with the fate of the empire. Using their extraordinary talents, the Oathkeepers are the very backbone of the empire. But how could the Oathkeepers hold together the seams of Juramen when they themselves are falling apart? . . . Introduction to Readers This 2,000-word excerpt from my sci-fi novel spans the second half of Chapter 1 and the first half of Chapter 2, set in a dynamic university. Larja, an astrophysicist professor, and Sarah, his PhD student and assistant, head from a lecture hall to Merian's office, where another professor supervises Sarah's thesis. Their interactions hint at cosmic stakes, but I'm seeking feedback on prose and language, how they flow, and whether they are natural and smooth. Please share your thoughts on writing style in the comments, avoiding plot or logic. For detailed critique or beta reading interest, comment or DM me! © Sam Lurian 2025, All Rights Reserved.
