Jason's death serves as the primary catalyst for Dick's emotional withdrawal. ​The Exit: Following Jason's death and personal issues, Dick abandons the Titan persona, quits vigilantism, and leaves Gotham. ​The Adoption: At age 15, Dick is legally adopted by his godparents, the Kurobas (Toichi and Chikage). ​The Cover Story: Bruce believes Dick is living a normal, mundane life in Japan. Dick kept his life as Kaito (the Phantom Thief), his war against crime syndicates, and his romantic life with Shinichi hidden from Bruce to ensure a clean break. ​The Kudo Household: The Kudo parents (Yusaku and Yukiko) are active, protective, and supportive. They know the truth from Day 1 (via Agasa) and have been training Shinichi in awareness and readiness. ​The Siblings: Shinichi and Kaito are the primary couple (BL). They are joined by Shiho Miyano Kudo (the younger adopted sister) and Hattori Heiji (the protective older brother figure to all three).
