Nicks Cooper, is the descendant of a long line of master thieves, all of whose members had recorded their knowledge in an old book which is the « Master of Volus ». In this family, a tradition is that all heirs of the Cooper clan receive this book as an heritage. When Nicks' turn comes, five visitors interrupt the ceremony. When Nicks tells them his story, they swear together to hunt down the Five Sons of the Dragon, to avenge Nicks' father, and to recover all of the "Master of Volus" pages.
