Jay Black is the mysterious guy. He is traumatised by events that happened in his past, which he blames himself for even though what happened could not be helped. He views himself as a monster, who, every full moon of every month between dusk and dawn, is forced to shift and turn into an animal of the night. All he really wants is to protect Tala from himself and what he is. But how can he continue trying to leave her alone when he needs her and when it hurts him to be away from her?
