Tormented for years in his past and carrying the burden from the fallen gods for thousands of years, Xiao have never opened himself to anyone. Yet this boy, with such eagerness to help and understand him, extended his hand in his sea of shadows. "I'm always here for you if you need me," Aether said softly- Like the warmth he's been looking for eversince. Will the strong wall that surrounded Xiao's heart crumble as a result of the sunlight? Will he be able to find happiness after suffering for centuries?

The river takes Aether without warning. Cold, fast, and merciless, it drags him under before he can think, before he can breathe, before he can do anything but panic. The current steals his strength, the water his air, until there's only his burning lungs and the desperate certainty that he isn't going to make it back to the surface. He uses his last breath to call out for help.
