Hermit City is a city of heroes and villains, and Grian is one of its most reliably factual and truthful reporters. So reliable, in fact, that the Heroes' Association values him and his reports enough that they assigned him a bodyguard: HotGuy himself! Grian and Scar have been doing this for years, now, and their relationship is more than just that of bodyguard and charge. It might even be more than just a friendship!
