Kanae x Sanemi

A blessing of good intentions becomes a curse upon which the one to have it must bare the burden. No matter how much sorrow it fills the mind, body, and soul.

This fic (at first) follows the basic storyline of Demon Slayer, starting with chapter 106 of the manga, found in volume 12 (weird place to start, I know, but just bare with me). I've added a few characters, removed a few characters, and drastically altered something. I've also spared the lives of a few characters that were killed off in the original, killed a few characters whose lives were spared in the original, and changed a few details about the franchise. These things gradually change the story to divert from the original story more and more to the point that the story becomes virtually unrecognizable and also extends far past what was the ending in the original. I've written introductions before the chapters of the story to go into more detail about what you should know before reading this. Cover images for chapters do not belong to me- they are either from Demon Slayer directly or art by someone else.

WARNING: Also contains a reformed Doma, a redemption for Akaza (with some romance included), Inosuke gets a family, Kotoha gets to be happy, Daki and Gyutaro get to heal, Genya and Sanemi WILL communicate eventually, Uzui is vibin', Kanae gets to L I V E, Tamayo gets some motherly recovery, Kokushibo has an existential crisis, Nezuko will eventually get some character development, Muzan is TICKED, and life is good... mostly. Also, Kotoha adopts... everyone. Just... everyone. I don't own Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) or any of the art! All I remember is falling. With my brother in my arms, reaching back for my mother. Her dauntingly sweet smile, even while stained with blood, was beautiful.
