20-year-old Maya Ajisai, originally born in Kyoto in 1991, spent the most of her life in Canada and not learning much about her heritage, because of her mom's secrecy; Now, she wants to reconnect with her roots. So, she makes a deal with her mom that she'll spend a year in Okinawa because of their rich aquatic life, while also getting back in-touch with her roots. If she likes it there and thrives, she will think more about moving there forever; but if she can't make it work, or keep up with her studies, she'll move back home. A story set pre-Dead Souls in the Yakuza/RGG/LAD series universe, mainly just for me to feel silly with an x reader / ocxcannon lmao
