Synthetic Reverie: Mesmerized is a web novel that explores the integration of Vocaloids into a fictional Japanese society and world. The main focus is on three iconic Vocaloids: the first, Hatsune Miku; the second, Kasane Teto; and the third, Akita Neru. These three share interconnected stories and memories, all unfolding within a single world. Hatsune Miku belongs to the "first generation" of Vocaloids. Her cheerful, freelance personality and distinctive "futuristic twin tails" design have made her immensely popular. Kasane Teto, a UTAU from a later generation, shares Miku's ambitions but expresses them in a more reserved and natural way. She is often regarded as the group's anchor. Then there's Akita Neru, a second-generation Fanloidaloid with simple-perhaps even insignificant-goals. The public deeply adores her tsundere character. But in all those songs, recreations, and animations, have we ever truly seen who they really are? Aren't we simply reusing their voices, treating a part of them as tools? Shouldn't they be as free as we are? Disclaimer: This story is a work of fanfiction.
