Officer Yin meets War for the first time when War becomes the only witness to a crime. Yin gently takes his statement, not expecting that this boy will soon change his whole life. When the higher officers try to bury the case, War refuses to stay quiet and signs it for court. Yin tries to protect him, telling him he's too young and should not get involved in dangerous matters - but War takes it as an insult, thinking Yin doesn't believe in him.
That misunderstanding creates a cold wall between two strangers who once spoke softly to each other. War begins to dislike Yin for "not supporting him," while Yin secretly worries about War's safety more than he should. Neither of them realizes that the hate between them is only a disguise for something much deeper - a connection they cannot break.
