Summary: This collection of haibun, inspired by the prints of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892), delves into the Floating World of 19th century Japan when it marched into modernity, losing part of its artistic character in the process. Yoshitoshi was the last great master of ukiyo-e whose visionary courage gave new inspiration to a dying art. I'll attempt to revive part of his world in this collection. Hope you enjoy! Tsukioka Yoshitoshi was a master painter and woodblock print artist whose works have made an indelible mark on Japanese art and design to this day. His most famous series, "One Hundred Aspects of the Moon," comprise some of Yoshitoshi's best known designs.
