Jackson Baker has a lot to handle being the eldest of thirteen kids. Especially now that he is raising them all on his own. Every day is a new battle in the Bakers' house. Whether it be getting the youngest triplets to get their shoes on, or trying to do the school run to two schools all while trying to catch the train to avoid being late to his own. Which he always is. And trying not to let on that there isn't a responsible adult in the house taking care of them to Social Services. Everything is going just peachy. Not. Sometimes, being the first child sucks.

Daisy is struggling with everything. Her mum is an alcoholic who doesn't always manage to make it home each night leaving Daisy to care for her younger sister. Moreover Daisy's older sister, Bex, isn't much help; always disappearing off with her abusive boyfriend. Daisy has no one and just needs somewhere she can escape to, be herself and be accepted.
