I wrote this poem at a time when I absolutely hated my generation. This generation is definitely the 'YOLO' generation and it makes me so sad. Teenagers out there are "living their lives to the fullest, while they can" but in reality it is just hurting them. Drinking, doing drugs, having sex, and partying just for the hell of it is, in my opinion, not good nor safe. These things have consequences that many teenagers look past because they frankly don't care. You only live once, so why can't we try to make our lives last? Helping people with the real issues like cutting, being suicidal, depression, anxiety, etc. should be what we are focusing on. We should be trying to make the world a better place, not a worse place. And the way things are headed is definitely for the worse. I hope that this poem of mine opens your eyes, dear reader, to see that life is more than the partying, and the feeling numb, and whatever else. I hope you see that we can all be helping each other and having better lives because of it. Thank you.

"Have you ever felt so helpless than you can't move? Breathe? You don't want to eat or drink? You just want to stop existing?" I asked, not bothering to wipe the tears from my face as they were hidden by the pouring rain as I sat atop the railing of the overpass. "I have." The beautiful blue eyes of the dark haired stranger stood beside me. "And it just get's better, you just have to hang-NO!" I jumped. When Nyssa hits rock bottom, she decides there is only one thing she can do. Give up. On a stormy night she decided to jump, but a stranger shows up and changes her life.
