"That is really unusual, but very nice to hear," he responded, seeming shocked about the United Methodist Churches work on equality. I felt the spike of my heel catch a knot in the carpet. I started to trip and fall on the ground. I grabbed for anything to steady myself which just so happened to be the wall next to me. I guess Christian noticed my clumsiness and wrapped his hands around my waist before I could face plant on the floor. He pulled me back up on my feet a little too aggressively and I ended up with his chest against my back.
"Are you alright?" he asked with concern showing in his deep voice. He slowly removed his hands from my waist and I turned to meet his gaze.
"My pride is more hurt than anything else, so I guess I will make it. Thank you for catching me. I am so sorry, I knew I should not have worn these things today," I exclaimed as I bent down and began taking off my heels and looking at them in frustration.
"Don't worry about it doll, but it looks like you fell for me," he jokingly said. I looked at him, surprised that he made that comment. I stood up from my crouch position and regained my composure and turned to meet his striking blue gaze again.
"There is no way in Heaven that I can work for a church and date a guy named Christian, the old ladies would never shut up about how cute that is and how coincidental it is," I commented and thought of how exhausting that would be to hear that phrase over and over again.
"HA, he let out, "Don't stress too much, this would never work out.... I am an atheist," Christian stated.
