They rarely talk to her, or more so her father rarely talks to her. But she doesn't exactly talk to them either. Her parents are rarely ever *there* for her. Like when she needs someone to talk to, her father won't listen to her because he "doesn't have the time for the teen angst" or he's "just too busy" While her mother merely ever has the time to pay attention. When classmate Connor Murphy steals a letter Evan writes to himself as an assignment for his therapist and then proceeds to kill himself, his parents mistake it for a suicide note. Evan is now faced with the challenge of keeping his secret private and trying to help the Murphys. In "Another World," Evan's letter is different, failing to mention Connor's sister and Evan's crush, Zoe. Instead of getting mad, Connor recognizes that Evan, like himself, is suffering from depression. Now the story takes a different turn, and an unlikely friendship comes into being.

It's Evan's first day at school and he is freaking out. He had been on the same school for years but he still feeling like he wasn't part of anything. Evan thought things couldn't get any harder, but he was completely wrong. Everything got harder for him when he fell in love with a boy from his literature class. This boy was Connor Murphy, the boy everyone hates.

As I look at the girl to my left, I watch as tears fill her eyes and she sets down her head on the desk, curling up into a ball, as, I would assume, an act of protection. To block out the world. To protect herself from the relentless cruelty she faces every day. All I want to do is help her, but I don't know how. What could I possibly say to ease this poor girl's conscience? I didn't know what else to do. She was hurting, so I helped.
